November Luncheon Report

The tour begins

The November SBE Chapter Luncheon was held on Thursday, November 8 at the Meadow Room in the Museum of Flight at Boeing Field.  There were 21 members and guests attending.  Chairman Arthur Willetts opened the meeting with a report on the board meeting held the night before.

State SECC chairman Clay Freinwald gave the group a report on the major revisions of the Washington State EAS plan that is underway.

The meeting then was adjourned for a special tour of The Museum of Flight’s Space Shuttle Trainer Exhibit.  The tour took the members to the Museum’s brand new Space Gallery across the street from the main museum building.

The tour was led by museum docent David Jones, a retired United Airlines Captain.  The tour took the group around and in the massive shuttle trainer that stretches 100 feet long, with a tail that is over four stories high.  The trainer was used by NASA to train every astronaut in the space shuttle program.

The tour for the SBE chapter was in advance of the public opening scheduled two days later.
