FCC May Close NW Field Offices

The FCC has announced a plan to reduce the number of field offices from 24 to eight.  The reduction would include the closure of the Seattle and Portland FCC field offices.  The FCC would also reduce the number of field agents from 63 to 33 and reduction of staff positions including elimination of 16 directors.  For us in the Northwest, the reduction would leave the nearest FCC field office in San Francisco.

 

Dennis Wallace, SBE National Frequency Coordination Committee Chairman, has requested “real world” accounts of the FCC Enforcement folks helping resolve situations and interference issues.  SBE Executive Director John Poray and NAB VP of Spectrum Policy Bob Weller are encouraging responses in this effort to collect these accounts and forward them to the FCC.
