November 18, 2017

The November Luncheon was attended by 18 members and friends of SBE Chapter 16. The event featured a presentation by Gary Adams of Black Magic Designs on the latest developments in digital video including 12G SDI for Ultra HD at 60 frames a second.

The meeting was opened by chapter Chairman Jon Kasprick. Jon talked about Clay Frienwald’s SECC survey regarding multi-lingual EAS capabilities.  Program Chairman Arthur Willetts talked about the upcoming chapter Christmas Party December 16 and encouraged members to RSVP for the event and introduced program presenter Gary Adams.

Gary spent some time discussing his history with broadcast television going back to the days of Ampex Video Tape machines and NTSC video. He discussed the progression from analog television to today’s sophisticated digital video.  He talked about technical developments from today’s 2k HD to Ultra HD 4k and up.

Gary talked about the Blackmagic Design products including high quality video editing products, digital film cameras, color correctors, video converters, video monitoring, routers, live production switchers, disk recorders, waveform monitors and real time film scanners.
