Clay Freinwald NAB Achievement Award

Jim Dalke CPBE, Editor – SBE Chapter 16 Member Clay Freinwald named for the NAB 2018 Service to Broadcast Engineering Achievement Award presented at the “We Are Broadcasters Celebration.”

Each year since 1959, NAB has presented the Engineering Achievement Award to an individual for their outstanding accomplishments in the broadcast industry. In 1991, the Association began giving two awards – one for achievements in radio and the other for television.

Clay began his broadcast engineering career in 1961 and has held various technical positions at numerous stations and station groups, including Tacoma News Tribune, Viacom and Entercom. He is a Fellow in the Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) and is a founding member of the Broadcast Warning Working Group, helping broadcasters and others understand and implement EAS technology. Freinwald has served as chairman of the Washington State EAS Committee for over 20 years and chaired the SBE EAS Committee for a decade.

Clay is scheduled to share his award experience at the April 18 Chapter 16 Luncheon at the Old Spaghetti Factory in South Center – Tukwila.  The April Luncheon will feature shared experiences from NAB 2018.
