Clay’s Corner for January

Clay’s Corner for December, providing news and views from a broadcast engineer’s perspective since September 1986.  For his New Year edition, Clay discusses the wild December weather and the impact on broadcasters.  Clay talks about how mountain top winter access mobility has changed from clunky, difficult to manage snow cats to today’s agile ATVs modified for winter travel.

Clay also talks about the recent vandal attacks on power substations and their vulnerabilities.  The substations have many similarities to our transmitter sites and associated exposure to attacks.

In this issue, Clay also addresses some of the FCC proposed changes to the EAS system designed to improve system security.  You can read it all here:Clay’s Corner January 2023
